KWCA Partners with University of Waterloo Warriors

For Immediate Release:  Waterloo Ontario

Wednesday April 28th 2021

An agreement has been reached between the University of Waterloo Warriors and KW Cycling Academy (KWCA) to work to provide enhanced and comprehensive training and racing opportunities for University of Waterloo student athletes. This is the first time a post-secondary athletic program has collaborated with a development team to provide seamless integrated racing programs. This will be the first partnership of this kind of Canada

Three cycling disciplines (Road, MTB & Track) will be supported.  Structured Programs will be made available, as well as Race support at University events in North America.

Going forward, training opportunities at Forest City Velodrome and KWCA Sprint School will raise the fitness levels of the University athletes who need to schedule structured workouts to match the academic requirements of University life.

UW Cycling Club President Tom Hoshizaki said “This brings a unique opportunity to aspiring cyclists while pursuing their university careers, and fill a gap in sport development for young athletes in Ontario. KWCA brings experience working with young athletes and will help students balance their academic and athletic commitments."

KWCA Head Coach, Rob Good is looking forward to working with all of the University of Waterloo Cycling athletes and being able to to take each of them to the next level.  Several of the athletes have been receiving Training for a number of months with a nice improvement in Functional Threshold Power already on the rise.  All UW Cycling athletes will attend a Sprint School Projects in May to improve strength and Speed as we enter the summer season.
